Ubud Water Palace

The island of Bali is also called the island of a thousand temples, because almost every corner of this island there is a temple as a place of prayer for the majority of the island's population. So no wonder if a vacation to Bali makes the temple as a must-visit destination for tourists. Tourists who have a tourist destination to the temple should visit Ubud. Taman Pura Saraswati or Ubud Water Palace is one of the temples in Ubud that should be visited traveler.

The official name of Pura Taman Saraswati is Pura Taman Kemuda Saraswati, not a few who call with Pura Taman Kemuda. Foreign tourists call the Taman Kemuda Temple. Local people with typical Balinese dialects often say with Taman Kemude Temple .

I Gusti Nyoman Lempad is an undagi, a Balinese architect who designs a place of worship and other ritual equipment. He lives in the royal palace Blahbatuh. Then moved to Ubud due to a serious dispute with the king of Blahbatuh. In Ubud, he is employed by the Sukawati royal family. And on the orders of the prince of Ubud, Cokorda Gede Agung Sukawati, I Gusti Nyoman Lempad built a place of worship for the worship of Dewa Saraswati (god of knowledge, literature and art).

Started in 1951 and completed in 1952. The place was later named Taman Saraswati Temple. This temple is more beautiful with the lotus pond built around it. So this temple is also called as Ubud Water Palace. Visitors can admire this temple filled with stunning relief. Relief and statue is the work of the original artist of Bali. Interior and exterior design is very beautiful, can be said this temple is the master piece of the creator.


Medium-sized statue placed around the pool at once functioned as a fountain coming out of the mouth of the statue. Each corner is filled with beautiful works of reliefs and statues typical of Bali. Another interesting scene is a pond filled with pink lotus flowers and surrounded by plum trees.

Jero Mecaling statue stands proudly in this temple area. Jero Mecaling is the king who once led the earth Nusa Penida, Klungkung, Bali. And of course Saraswati statue stands gracefully in the middle with a height of 3 meters. There is a bale with three chambers for the worship of Hindu Trimurti Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The temple is also used as a bale barong, where barong store. Barong is an animal-shaped medium used by villagers to evict evil spirits. Barong itself has two figures namely Barong Ket (lion shaped) and Barong Pangkal (shaped hog).

With an interior architecture dominated by gold color, the exterior is full of statues and stunning reliefs, plus a beautiful lotus pond and calm atmosphere, visitors can capture the beauty of the sights through the camera or mobile phone. Vacation here must be unforgettable.

You can also dining at Cafe Lotus, over the past 35 years the restaurant has been welcoming guests from all over the world, The setting of Cafe Lotus is unique, a large Lotus pond framed by ancient lowering kamboja (magnolia) trees and, our most recent addition, an exhibit of several dozens of blooming orchid plants. Pura Taman Saraswati completes the scenery; the ambience is simply magical - especially during twilight hours and in the evenings.


The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with menus specific for the time of day. About 80 percent of dishes are prepared รก la minute with predominantly local ingredients. Daily delivery of meats, fresh fish and seafood, and of course their volume (of business) guarantees freshness. How to get there:
This temple is located in Gianyar regency. If visitors from Denpasar, this temple is accessible to the north through the Ubud highway, take a right after the Ubud highway that is on the Kajeng road, exactly A beautiful water temple located behind the Cafe Lotus and the entrance to its enclosure is between Starbucks and the Cafe Lotus. The journey from Denpasar to the location takes about 40 minutes.
